Series 4000 Hoppers

The series 4000 Industrial Rail hoppers are based on the USRA 50-ton twin bay hopper car.  The IR model closely mimics the Lionel 6456 hoppers in both size and detail.

Hoppers

Hopper cars, also known as coal cars, are used to haul bulk materials such as coal and gravel.  This type of car features bays or sections that can be emptied through doors along the bottom of the car.
